Classic Origin Hope - Only Watch 2021

Classic Origin Hope - Only Watch 2021

For the sixth consecutive year, LAURENT FERRIER has joined forces with the devoted Luc Pettavino, to renew its support for research against Duchene muscular dystrophy, a rare degenerative neuromuscular disease that manifests itself during childhood. On this occasion, LAURENT FERRIER has envisioned a unique timepiece specially designed for Only Watch 2021 and marked by the theme of hope.

Inspired by the life-long struggle of the man whom Aurel Bacs describes as "a fabulous maestro, a leader and an extraordinary powerful motivator", this exclusive creation is intended to bring a new breath of lightness. It features a manual 3-hand movement, the latest calibre addition to the LAURENT FERRIER collection. The brand's iconic case, with its rounded shape, is available in stainless steel for the first time on the Classic Origin.

This singular timepiece reveals a unique green aquamarine dial with 18-carat white gold drop shaped hour markers. This soft and refreshing colour is intended to represent youth, renewal, and optimism. A true tribute to Luc Pettavino, who, each time, offers a new flash of hope, not only to those affected but to everyone. Furthermore, a silvery-white opaline small seconds dial is placed at 6 o'clock. By using white, LAURENT FERRIER also wanted to honour the resilience of the entire medical profession after what has been a troubled year. The legendary Assegai-shaped hour and minute hands in 18-carat white gold fly peacefully across the centre of the dial. In addition, the emblematic "ball" shaped crown of the LF House remains. Beyond its graceful appearance, both the scale and the voluptuous shape of this crown facilitate winding.

A REFINED CALIBRE

The hand wound LF 116.01 calibre, visible via the exhibition case back, is refined to the highest order. The movement is equipped with a free-sprung balance and a Breguet overcoil. This latter combination enhances precision, mitigates positional errors, and improves isochronism. The firm's beloved long-blade ratchet system is another highlight of this movement. This system, emblematic of LAURENT FERRIER, offers a very pleasant feeling when the watch is wound as well as an inimitable sound, characteristic of the most demanding timepieces. Assuming the Classic Origin Hope is fully wound, it will run autonomously for 80 hours, courtesy of its admirable power reserve.

While the LF 116.01 calibre is simpler than some of the company's complicated movements, it still encompasses the high-end finishing found on every other LAURENT FERRIER creation. The bridges are decorated with a softly spoken micro-blasted, black rhodium finish and hand-polished edges. Each screwhead is mirror polished and the escapement bridge is gracefully adorned with a hand-made interior angle, consistent with the Maison's fastidious attention to detail.

An Alligator leather strap, lined with Alcantara and paired with a stainless-steel pin buckle, highlights the Classic Origin Hope.
